I’m looking for a place to rent in York for me and my family (husband & a 6-year-old daughter) for three months this Autumn (September-November 2025). I’ll be a visiting researcher at the University of York and I’m looking for accommodation ideally in walking or biking distance (ideally max ~5miles) from the University campus (Heslington). This should be a furnished (beds and desks/tables+chairs are a must; WiFi and kitchen appliances etc. would definitely be an asset) 2 (or 3)-bedroom flat or house with a free parking space. Perhaps someone is leaving York for the Autumn and would want us to take care of their place (e.g. water the plants)? We could also share a house with the landlord/other tenants - we tested this during our last scholarship in Bristol and it played out well! I’m an early 40s assistant professor and my husband – an amateur bird watcher in his mid-40s – works for a think-tank. We are respectful, we don’t smoke and have no pets (but we like dogs and could consider taking care of a dog in your absence). My husband is a real handyman, so might even repair a few things at your place. Our monthly budget is ~1100-1200£ with bills included.
