About the room

A double bedroom with built in wardrobe for rent just minutes from the River Clyde. It is flexible when you can move in but will be available from the 1st May.

The flat is a clean, spacious two-floor flat in a secure building in a central location. There’s plenty of space, a spare room for any guests, a balcony, private parking, fibreoptic broadband, and a widescreen TV that’s hooked up to Netflix, Disney+, Now TV, and a Wii (all of which you are welcome to use). I’ve been here for over ten years so I have bought everything a flat needs - but if you have your own homewares you’re more than welcome to bring them and make them part of the flat.

The flat allows for easy travel access and a quick walk to Glasgow landmarks. You can walk to Central Station in 15 minutes, Bridge Street Underground in 10 minutes, drive onto the M5 and M77 in five seconds and walk to the SECC in 25 minutes. Springfield Quay is across the street and the 02 Academy is nearby. There’s a Tesco Metro 10 minutes away, a biggish Co-op 20 minutes away, an Indian Supermarket on the same street and you can walk to the new Gorbals Retail Park in 20 minutes. There’s also parking outside the flat, though if you have a car we have a space in our own private underground car park which you are free to use as I don’t own a car. The flat is also owned by a private landlord which no lettings agency in between.

This is technically a three-bedroom flat, but it is only rented out to two people. The bedroom for rent is on the top floor and has a bed, bedside tables, and a built-in wardrobe. The spare room is home to a spare bed, desk, and extra storage space. I work from home so I use the downstairs room as my office but I’m not weirdly territorial about it and if you work from home too we can absolutely work something out.

The rent is £500 a month, and the deposit is six weeks rent at £750. The flat is annoyingly one of the top council tax bands but overall rent, council tax, TV License, electricity and internet usually comes to just under £750 a month (when split, and electricity is variable). And we can also split the cost of other things, like kitchen roll, clingfilm, buying toilet roll in bulk…

I work from home so can be very flexible with viewings.

Below is all of the above but in bullet-pointed form. Flat: • Two floors (with an entry door on each level) • Open plan kitchen and living area • Spare bedroom with a bed for guests and extra storage space • Bathroom with bath and stand-up shower (plus a sink, toilet, and heated handrail) • Balcony • Underground parking (I don’t own a car so you can have the space) • Secure and factored building • Walking distance to Bridge Street subway station / 15 minutes from Central Station

Important money and legal things: • The monthly costs will usually be around £750 each which is broken down to: • Rent: £500 per month (paid in advance) • Deposit: six weeks’ rent (£750) • Fibre optic Broadband: £23.88 each • Electricity: variable but if we’re sensible £40-60 each • Council tax band G - £188 each • TV license: £6.25 each • Contract: joint tenancy • There’s no Housing of Multiple Occupancy Agreement, which is why the spare room is empty highland dancing

About the roomies

You’ll get to live with me, Mòrag. I work a really corporate job that’s not very interesting. When I leave the house I like going to live shows, trying new restaurants, gyming, cycling, and going to my weekly highland class. I’m veggie but don’t mind living with a meat eater (I promise I’m not a preachy type!). When I’m in the flat I really love cooking and baking, so if you live with me there might be cake in store (just saying). I also really like reading and will happily lend you my books. You’ll also probably overhear me doing my Duolingo lessons!
