About the room

Hi there! We have a spare room available in our home in E5 (zone 2)

A bit about us: We’re a couple (Darren & Nadia) and have been living in our home for almost 7 years. We absolutely love this area and we’re looking for someone to rent our spare room for a short term let (3-6 months) from January (this may become long term too, if we’re all happy!). We’re both professionals who are working from home most of the time, we’re generally pretty quiet but we love a good chat around and a glass of wine :) We share our home with Luna, a blue eyed little cat (ball of fluff) who has a tendency to make hearts melt.

I’m 34 and Darren is 47, This is very much a home we’ve built over the years - we have a great relationship with the landlord, we’re not party animals. We’re looking for someone nice and chilled.

We welcome people from any age, although ideally over 25 :). We’re sadly not looking for any of the below profiles of people, just because it’s a small flat and we already have a little ball of fluff living here:

  • couples
  • pets Please note there are no exceptions for couples and pets, please don’t be offended but we won’t answer those types of queries.

The flat sits on a beautiful road that has become very popular, it’s a sun trap throughout the day despite it being a basement (it doesn’t feel like one at all!):

  • double bedroom, furnished: there is a double bed, desk + chair, chest of drawers and a 2 seater sofa
  • Bathroom with bath + shower (we have our own en-suite upstairs)
  • kitchen is standard but plenty of space to cook (we’re two proper foodies so expect to find one of us there most evenings!)
  • There is terraced space at the front and back of the house so you can enjoy the sunshine at different times of the day
  • The room is a sun box with plenty of sunlight throughout the day
  • There is 242 a bus station right in front of the house that goes to central London, Homerton/Hackney central/Clapton overground stations 10-15 mins walk away. It takes approx. 45 mins to get to Oxford street
  • There is a lovely park at the bottom of our road a short walk away, with the very popular Millfields coffee shop. The canal is about 5-10 mins away and great for winter walks
  • Chatsworth road is a short walk away, close to lots of shops/pubs/restaurants (for when these open up again!)

Edit: We couldn’t add kitchen photos as there s a limit on SpareRoom but it’s pretty small/standard and has a gas cooker/oven, microwave, your own little standalone fridge, some freezer space to share with us, toaster, washing machine, kettle, the basics really! There s a little bit of cupboard space (you get your own cupboard) and you’re more than welcome to use any of our stuff (we love to cook/eat so we have a little variety of kitchenware!)

Times are hard nowadays and we know the rental market is a bit bonkers, so we have tried to be as fair as possible in the pricing: Rent includes ALL bills (internet, water and council tax, electricity and gas) and would only increase for two reasons (landlord or severe increase in current energy prices, we have already accounted for the 2022/2023 increase in energy bills in this price).

For any questions, please feel free to give us a shout!
