About the room

Hey guys, I have a lovely small double bedroom available in a modern apartment in Ancoats, just over the road from the Northern Quarter. The Arndale is 6-7 mins away plus transport links at Shudehill.

The room is part furnished with a double bed, chest of drawers and a curtained off recess space for hanging clothes and storage.

There’s a desk in the living room that you could use if you need one.

You’ll have the main bathroom as I have a small en suite. So, you’ll only share with houseguests; in the mornings no waiting for the bathroom to be free.

The living area is open plan and reasonably spacious. There’s a fitted kitchen and you’ll have use of an espresso machine and velvetiser for smooth liquid hot chocolate.

The living room has huge windows, in fact double doors, onto a small balcony with a table and chair.

There’s two buildings that make up the complex and in the other building we have access to a rooftop indoor pool. There’s also a sunroom up there along with a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.

As well as the wet facilities there’s a decent gym leading onto an outdoor decked roof space with a boxing bag and great views. Oh and a small gym in our building as well.

Back in the flat, I’m in the process of replacing audio equipment and possibly getting a projector as I have no TV. I’m also getting a new guitar, so guitarists are most welcome and I’m more than happy for my new flat mate to use any of my equipment - just leave it in the living room when done.

I’m hoping to replace a turntable I had and start rebuilding a vinyl collection. Yes, if you play guitar and have records there’s a discount (maybe…) Seriously though you don’t have to be musical but it will help if you like music being played at home and sometimes late at night. I’m not one for loud house parties these days but I may have friends here listening to music until 1-2am at weekends. However, if you ever felt disturbed just ask and it’s off or lower volume immediately.

I’ve got a small collection of photography books and I like taking pictures myself. Fancy yourself as a model or just like being photographed then great. If not, no problem at all. But the books are there to be enjoyed so take your pick.

The flat is fairly tidy most of the time but I live here and like to enjoy life so I’m not house proud or precious if something is damaged or other small accidents.

I’d like someone open minded, chatty but also happy alone together. I like sharing and really don’t want to feel that the two of us occupy space but don’t share. Eat my food drink my wine just make sure there’s coffee left in the morning. And of course there’s a decent fridge and freezer along with oven hob and microwave.

I don’t like rules for the sake of rules. I prefer switched on people who don’t need to be told as they can read a situation, go with the flow and really don’t let small things cause drama.

There’s plenty of light in the flat and it’s airy when windows are open but can be as warm as you want when chilly outside.

About the roomies

As you’ve likely guessed it’s just me here at the moment so there’ll be just the two of us sharing the flat.

I’m 45 but apparently look younger. I don’t work in the traditional sense but I have a few investments and a couple of small businesses I’m developing.

I know a lot of people in the Northern Quarter so I’m out and about most days.

I’ve lived in a few countries, travelled extensively and I like people. I love hearing friends and others talking about their special interests or areas of expertise and I really love seeing any creative work a person enjoys.

I think I’m easy to get on with and a marvellous human in general ;) but you’ll be the judge of that!

I like Bob Dylan I hate butter in the fridge.

I’ll drink black coffee but really want the milk and sugar.

I smoke and so should you (should you?) No, smoking is ok in the flat but if you really hate it then the balcony is as good a place as any for a cigarette or whatever.

Be yourself and I’ll be mine. I don’t interfere and don’t judge so you’re going to feel good living in Skyline Central with this middle aged guy who likes wearing make up and Saint Laurent.

Ah, it’s true I love clothes as a form of self expression. I’m quite into androgynous clothing. Saint Laurent is my vibe along with Jacquemus.

So, if you like clothes, a bit of The Smiths or Stone Roses; if you enjoy lazy days chilling and smoking, chatting about whatever, I think you’ll like it here.

If you don’t like sharing and expect dust free silence then I’ve also got a parking space available (kidding but you knew that).

Right, erm, yeah it’s just a smal double room in a modern flat with me really.
